It's a new year. What are you working towards?

If you're like me, you struggle to set goals. I have a laundry list of things I want to achieve with no awareness of time. This is quite overwhelming. The biggest factor that stops me from putting pen to paper is the anxiety around, "What if I don't achieve them?"

I'm sure I'm not the only one that is quite ambitious at a young age. In the past, I've stored my goals in my mind to protect myself in the event they don't happen.

This year, I approached my goals with a new mindset. I wrote them down as I envisioned them with no caveats or disclaimers for what will happen that year. Instead of giving myself a hard deadline of December 31st, I wrote them in S.M.A.R.T format thinking ahead 5-10 years. (Note: I created my goals around things that I can achieve with my own control)

S: Specific

M: Measurable

A: Attainable

R: Relevant

T: Time-Bound

I thought about where I wanted to go and appreciated where I was without using my current state as a limitation. I created a chart to revisit my goals throughout the year. What's the point of goals if you don't track your growth?

My intent is to revisit every year. Some will be completed by the end of the year, but some may need amendments for the next. I want to keep myself on track without burying myself in the rat race of achievement.
